I call the system I have developed to make our "Third Acts" awesome, The HOPE Protocol. I should have called it The HOPE Rope because it has four strands that need to be intertwined. The HOPE Rope will pull us out of The Hormone Abyss.

Today's Hack is from The Hormone Strand.

ONE HORMONE HACK

"Doc, I woke up one day and I had gained thirty pounds and no matter what I did, I could not take the weight off. I cut my calories and joined a gym and my weight keeps increasing and it seems like it's all settling in my belly."

I promise you that you can lose your belly fat and your excess weight.

But...

You'll gain your weight back and maybe even weigh more than when you started. When I was a teenager, I wanted to be a professional bass fisherman. My father built me a little six-foot boat. It was too small to put a motor on it so we had to use a paddle to maneuver the boat.

My dad would drop me and a friend off at a bridge upriver and we would float down the Tuolumne river. You had to become a really good caster of lures because if you got tangled in one of the riverbank's bushes, you had to cut your line more often than not. I had a favorite lure, a rebel red eye minnow. They were hard to find and it got caught in one of those dang bushes. I grabbed the paddle and worked the river paddling upstream as hard as I could. Once I got close to the bush my friend grabbed the bush and we swung ourselves into the bush that was trying to steal my lure.

As soon as I had my lure back into my possession, my friend let go of the bush and we went floating downstream.

That is what will happen to your weight if you are estrogen dominant. Estrogen dominance is like a strong river flowing as fast as it can toward the ocean.

You can eat The Protable Menu to lose your menopausal weight but as soon as you stop, estrogen dominance is going to have you floating back downstream and you will gain your excess weight back.

When you work so hard to achieve something and life just takes it away from you, how does that make you feel?

  • Frustrated

  • Depressed

  • Angry

  • All the above

Failure after hard work causes me despair: "the complete loss or absence of hope." It's as if I feel like I am not one of the chosen.

I have discovered that what happens to most of us when we fail is that we become the effect.

One of the keys to achievement is to not become the effect when you fail but by becoming the cause of your success on the next try.

My purpose as a coach is to flip the switch to you being at cause instead of being at effect. I have helped thousands of women flip the switch and as you know by now the switch is your hormones because you are nothing more than a reflection of your hormones.

The primary cause of you gaining your weight back after working so hard to lose it is estrogen dominance.

In my last Hormone Strand e-course, I had you take a self-test to discover how many of the symptoms you have of estrogen dominance. If you answered yes to more than half, you're most likely going to gain your weight back. to make sure that doesn't happen, you must eliminate estrogen dominance. To eliminate estrogen dominance, you must lose your belly fat.

Estradiol, the strongest of the three main estrogens, causes you to make belly fat. You can cut your calories and work out daily but if you are estrogen dominant, you will not be able to lose weight.

Estradiol makes belly fat.

As estradiol makes more and more belly fat, your belly fat will make more and more enzymes that convert your progesterone and testosterone into estradiol.

Progesterone is the hormone that keeps estradiol's ability to make belly fat in check. Estradiol makes belly fat and belly fat makes more estradiol and the sad thing is your belly fat is converting your fat-burning hormones, progesterone, and testosterone into estradiol.

The chasm between estradiol and progesterone is what determines how estrogen dominant you are.

The most important step to eliminating estrogen dominance is to lose belly fat.

If you lose your belly fat, less of your progesterone and testosterone will be converted into estradiol. Eventually, progesterone and estradiol will be dancing again and you will be on your way to being "YOU" again. "YOU" will go into your favorite woman's clothing store and wear the size you were meant to wear. You will twirl in front of the window feeling comfortable in your clothes. You will have your self-confidence back and you will be happy.

Estrogen dominance is the condition that causes

  • hormonal weight gain,

  • weight loss resistance,

  • sleep disorders,

  • hormonal induced anxiety,

  • hormonal induced depression,

  • loss of interest in being intimate,

  • and loss of motivation to be social.

The first strand of The HOPE Protocol is dedicated to eliminating estrogen dominance naturally without the use of carcinogenic synthetic hormones.

The first step of The Hormone Strand is to take the self-test to see how many symptoms you have been stricken with by possibly having estrogen dominance. If you haven't taken the test, here is the link again.

If you flunk this test, the next step is to take an objective lab test to discover how estrogen dominant you are.

The best test to use to discover how estrogen dominant you are is called a salivary assay. This test will give you what I believe is the most important number any hormonally challenged woman can discover. The number is called a progesterone to estradiol ratio. When it comes to hormones, it is not about your levels, it is about how well-balanced your hormones are. This is where doctors get it wrong. If they see that you have low estrogen levels, your doctor will prescribe estrogen, which will cause you to gain more weight and become even more weight loss resistant.

HORMONE STRAND HACK TWO: DISCOVER HOW ESTROGEN DOMINANT YOU ARE BY DISCOVERING YOUR PROGESTERONE TO ESTRADIOL RATIO.
