I call the system I have developed to optimize our hormones and weight in our "Third Acts" of life, The HOPE Protocol. I should have called it The HOPE Rope because it has four strands that need to be intertwined. The HOPE Rope is what we will use to pull ourselves out of The Hormone Abyss of menopause and andropause.

Today's lesson is from The Enlightenment Coaching Strand.



"Doc, in previous Enlightenment Coaching courses, you taught me that research has shown that women who try to lose weight failed 97% of the time. You taught me that the 3% that succeeded had supervised accountability. In the next course, you taught me that I would gain my weight back if I did not balance my progesterone with my estrogen. You taught me to do that I would need the knowledge on how to balance these two hormones, which you provide in your weekly email course. So...what's the next tool I will need to achieve optimized hormones, weight, health, and life? The Third Tool you will need to guarantee your achievement of optimized hormones, weight, health, and life is the customization of the program for your body and personality.


Recently, one of my clients texted me and was in total freak mode.

"Doc, I'm stuck in a twelve-hour training session. I thought we would get at least a lunch break. I figured I could get a salad from the hotel's restaurant. But...the training company is going to train right through lunch. They have provided lunch, and it's; lasagna, Caesar Salad, Garlic bread, and Creme Brulee. Should I just fast all day?"

I bet you can't guess what I told her to do.

I told her to "EAT IT."

She said, "WHAT? But I have worked so hard to take off thirty pounds, and I need to lose another twenty pounds. I don't want to throw it all down the drain now."

"You won't."

"But, as you taught me, this type of food will cause my blood sugar to spike, therefore, spiking my insulin. This will cause me to turn off the fat-burning switch and go back into fat-storing."

She was a good student, and I could hear the frantic in her text.

"Alice, we can fix anything this meal does to you in one day."

I explained that if she fasted, she would be a lousy student because her brain would quit working by mid-afternoon. I also explained that if she did fast, as soon as the training was over, she would probably hit the first Taco Bell and eat six crunchy tacos.

We are all screwed up differently. Below are the reasons customizing the program for your body is so important.

  • We all have different hormone levels.

  • We all have different metabolisms.

  • We all have different personalities.

  • We all have different food like and dislikes.

  • We all have different meal schedules.



I have explained how we can achieve our "Happy Weight," easily but the real key is not to gain it back. The reason most menopausal women gain back their weight is because of Estrogen Dominance. If your Progesterone/Estradiol ratio is 25, you will suffer from severe estrogen dominance, and The Protable Menu will have to be adhered to strictly. If your P/E Ratio is 100, we have lots of room to play around with the menu.

Every woman should know her Progesterone to Estradiol Ratio. Your P/E Ratio will govern how slender and happy you are once you're menopausal. Your P/E Ratio tells you how Estrogen Dominant you are. The HOPE For Menopause System must be CUSTOMIZED for how Estrogen Dominant you are.


We took a friend of our children into our home when they were in high school. He is currently in law school. The young man was about six feet and weighed about a buck forty, dripping wet. He could eat an entire pizza and lose a pound. If I watched a pizza commercial, I'd gain a pound. We all have different metabolisms. The menu I design for you will be customized for your metabolism.

Different metabolisms demand different CUSTOMIZED menus. As I coach you, I tweak the menu around your ability to store or burn fat.


The most challenging personality to coach is the know-it-all. If they knew it all, why are they so overweight and in hormonal chaos? Some of my clients are filled with trust, and others have lost most of their ability to trust. I can tell them over and over that, I have optimized over ten thousand women's health, and they will still debate that they need to do something a certain way that is so wrong. I have learned how to take any personality and guide them into making the best decision on their personalized menu so they can achieve the body of their desire.

Personalities are the number one reason menopausal women fail at losing weight and feeling great. CUSTOMIZED Personalized Coaching is a key component to success.


I am so fortunate that I live with a gourmet cook. Vicky, my wife, has incredible taste buds. She can take a bite of something and tell you the spices used. Our youngest son can also do this. When I take a bite of something, I can tell you that it's meat, vegetables, or fruit but not much else. Because Vicky has these incredibly educated taste buds, she likes her own cooking. Because of this, I am rarely asked to cook.

Vicky cannot stand the taste of seafood; therefore, she rarely cooks seafood. Because of my deprivation of seafood meals at home, and in my opinion, clean seafood is the best protein to eat, I will order seafood when we eat out.

She also does not eat lamb or wild meat. One of the challenges my clients have, and therefore me as their coach, is to use the foods that they do like and make the foods they like work. It is of the utmost importance for me to be able to CUSTOMIZE a menu around their food likes and dislikes.

I must CUSTOMIZE a menu for my clients' food likes and dislikes for the program to work efficiently and effectively. I will never have one of our clients eat food they don't like.


Having a routine is one of the most essential tools you can use to optimize your hormones, weight, health, and life. As I get to know you, together, we discover when you become hungry and how hungry you become and develop meal plans for your hunger schedule. We all have different daily schedules that are shaped by individual, family, and work demands. When you know that you will be hungry at a particular time and how hungry you will be, then we can plan a menu for that time.

Everyone is different. Your program needs to be designed around your hormones, chemistry, personality, schedules, food likes, and dislikes.
