The First Four Ingredients of The HOPE Menu

Today's Course is a Summary of the first four steps within The Organic Sustenance Strand. There are many more to come.


ORGANIC STRAND: THE FIRST FOUR TOOLS

"Doc, since I turned fifty, I can't lose weight no matter what I do. I've cut my calories, joined a gym, attended muscle-burning boot camps, and have actually hired a personal trainer; I continue to gain weight, especially around the midsection. Please tell me what to do?"

I hear this several times a day. In today's course, I will review the first four tools we use to blow off our clients' bloat, which I have to do before placing their bodies into a fat-burning state. The challenge once I have done that is to keep them in a fat-burning state until they reach their “happy” or “bottom” weight.

“I must blow off the bloat (retained water) caused by chronic inflammation caused by you eating inflammatory foods before I can place you into a fat-burning state.”

The key to weight loss in the "Third Act" of life is bottoming out the insulin hormone and keeping it bottomed out. When insulin is bottomed out, the brain thinks you are starving and releases another hormone called glucagon that opens your cells' exit doors. With your cells' exit doors opened, your fat stores are released to be used as fuel.


Using the four tools below, you will flip the switch from being in a fat-storing state to being in a fat-burning state. During Phase ONE (The Weight Loss Phase) of our program, you will also avoid the foods that cause chronic inflammation (high glycemic carbohydrates).


Here are the tools:

  • PROTEIN

  • FATS

  • SALT

  • HYDRATION


PROTEIN

"To bottom out insulin and decrease inflammation, for the first three days of the program (The Protein Days), we will have you eat clean palm-sized servings of animal proteins whenever you are hungry."

Palm-sized pieces of animal protein have a glycemic value of zero. The glycemic index of a food tells us how likely a particular food will increase blood sugar. The more your blood sugar spikes after a meal, the more insulin is released. The servings must be palm-sized because if the protein is eaten in abundance, certain amino acids (the building blocks of protein) will convert into sugar. We have found that a palm-sized serving of protein rarely, if ever, causes a sugar bump.


Insulin opens the entrance doors to your cells and allows blood sugar to flow freely from your blood and into your cells. If the sugar is not needed to make energy, it will be converted into fat and stored in your cellular pantries.


During "The Protein Days," you will lose your bloat. The minimum weight lost during these days is approximately five pounds. I have had numerous clients lose fifteen pounds. When large amounts of weight are lost during the Protein Days, I worry because that means they were a heart attack waiting to happen.


Clean proteins are wild-caught, grass-fed, pasture-raised, organic proteins. Conventional proteins like conventional beef are filled with antibiotics, hormones, pesticides, herbicides, etc.

FATS

"God-made fats will not make you fat. Human-made fats will and also decrease the length and quality of your life."

God-made fats are made by pressing the fat from fruit or churning it from dairy.

Human-made fat is made by using chemicals to turn a seed into fat. Human-made fats are usually referred to as vegetable oils. They are poisons made by using up to sixteen harsh chemicals to make these terrible harmful fats.

"FYI: Dairy refers to the milk produced by an animal, specifically a mammal such as goats, sheep, cows, or even camels and water buffalo. All mammalian milk is considered dairy, but there are differences in butterfat content, lactose, and protein."

There are five God-made fats I hold in high esteem, and I want our clients to consume at least two tablespoons of these fats at each meal.

For High Heat Cooking

  • Avocado Oil

  • Coconut Oil

For Medium Heat Cooking

  • Grass-fed Butter

  • Grass-fed Ghee

Raw

  • Olive oil

Specialized

  • MCT Oil

Yes, avocados, coconuts, and olives are fruits.

“God-made fats act like lighter fluid. They will help start the fire and make the fire more intense.”

I talk about MCT oil sparingly because it doesn't exist in nature. Many health and longevity gurus tout the benefits of MCT oil. MCT stands for Medium Chain Triglycerides. These are primarily extracted from coconut oil. I suggest using MCT oil in your coffee, especially if you do not eat breakfast. I prefer to use grass-fed butter in my coffee. MCT might work better at fueling fat-burning (ketosis), but grass-fed butter does one heck of a good job. As you know, I prefer God-made foods. I love the taste of buttered coffee. If you don't like the taste of butter, MCT oil will work best for you because it is tasteless.

"Olive oil is the best God-made fat to use. I put it on my cooked meats and on raw and cooked vegetables. The Mediterranean diet is considered the best diet on the planet. The reason the Mediterraneans are so healthy and live longer than most is that they believe food is just an excuse to slather olive oil upon."

Always purchase cold press, extra virgin, organic God-made oils, and grass-fed butter and ghee.

  • Cold press means pressing the fruit without applying heat.

  • To qualify as "extra virgin," olive oil must have a free acid count of less than one percent.

SALT

"Salt is essential to life, but you only need a pinch with each meal."

While you are on The HOPE Protocol, I would like you to use Pink Himalayan or Celtic Salt. I use Celtic salt as a rub when I cook Prime Rib or roasts. I use Pink Himalayan Salt on everything else as a finishing salt.


Use only a pinch with each meal. If you are like me and eat primarily protein, you really don't need any added salt because there is plenty of salt within meats.

Do not use any other seasonings during The Protein Days. Many of us have sensitivities to seasonings. I am highly sensitive to oregano and MSG. If I eat either one, I will bloat, have gastric distress, and be lethargic.

COFFEE, TEA, AND WATER

"While on The HOPE Protocol, you may have a cup of coffee, three servings of tea, and you must drink at least 80 ounces of water daily."

Enjoy one cup of ORGANIC coffee daily in the early morning, drink it black, and sip it slowly. Coffee farmers use a strong pesticide on their plants that can be very harmful; therefore, while on The HOPE Protocol, do your best to drink organic coffee because we need to reduce the number of inflammatory substances we place within your body. There may also be a problem with your coffee being MOLDY, so if you want to take your coffee drinking to a higher level, drink BulletProof Coffee, which has cleansed the coffee of mold.


Studies of centenarians have found that they are major coffee drinkers. That's got to tell you something. My mother is in her 90s and has more than her share of coffee during the day. While transforming your body, keep your coffee drinking to a minimum for your liver's sake.

“Coffee will ramp up weight loss and improve health due to the benefits of a unique polyphenol found within it.”

Enjoy three servings of hot or iced tea daily, be it black, white, green, or oolong but do not drink tea after 4:00 PM. Most of my mentors state that all of us should drink green tea, but be it black, white, or oolong tea, I believe they will all work the same because they all come from the same bush.

“Discontinue drinking tea by 4:00 PM because we do not want the tea to cause adverse effects on your sleep.”

Drink EIGHTY OUNCES of clean water daily, be it spring, alkaline, or filtered water. Water is a necessity to live. You will dehydrate if you don’t drink at least 80 ounces of water daily. The first five to fifteen pounds you lose will be water. Don't worry about water causing higher weigh-ins. I prefer alkaline water because it makes me thirsty, and as we age, we lose our ability to thirst. Spring water and even filtered water will work well. Do not drink tap water. The more water you drink, the more weight you will lose.
